# Flashcards

Flashcards are a type of activity that [allow learners to assess their knowledge](/v1/docs/learner-interface-activities#flashcard-activities) of the materials without being scored. For course developers, flashcards can serve as a study guide for learners.

With flashcards, you [add one or more cards](/v1/docs/adding-a-flashcard-activity#adding-a-card) that contain a question and answer. Learners view a question, consider their answer, then "flip" the flashcard to reveal the answer.
