# Adding a Knowledge Base

The ability to have multiple [knowledge bases](/v1/docs/knowledge-bases) is a special component of SmarterU that is not included with the basic system. Please contact our [Success Desk](mailto:success@neovation.com) to learn how you can upgrade your account to multiple knowledge bases.To allow users to see the [knowledge base in the learner interface](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/knowledge-base), you must [add a](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/page-main#type) [*Knowledge Base*](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/page-main#type) [type page](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/page-main#type) to the user's [dashboard set](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/dashboard-sets). Users will also need [permission](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/permissions-in-the-knowledge-base) to view the [articles](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/knowledge-bases-articles) and [files](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/knowledge-bases-files) in the [knowledge base folder](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/knowledge-bases-folders).

To add a knowledge base:

1. From the Admin menu, select **Knowledge Bases.**
2. Select **KB Management**.

1. Click **Knowledge Base**.

A new tab displays the Add/Edit Knowledge Base workscreen.

1. Specify the knowledge base's settings in the following accordions:

- [Knowledge Base Information](/v1/docs/knowledge-base-knowledge-base-information)
- [Permissions](/v1/docs/knowledge-base-permissions)

1. Click **Save**.
