# Adding an Action

To add an [action](/v1/docs/actions):

1. From the Admin menu, select **Account Admin**.
2. Select **Learning Plans Dashboard**. The [Learning Plans Dashboard](/v1/docs/learning-plans-dashboard) displays.
3. Click **Action**.

You may also [add private actions from within a requirement block](/docs/editing-a-blocks-actions#adding-and-assigning-a-new-private-action).

A new tab displays the Add/Edit Action workscreen.

1. Specify the action's settings in the following accordions:

- [Main](/v1/docs/action-main)
- [Prerequisites](/v1/docs/action-prerequisites)
- [Expiration](/v1/docs/action-expiration)
- [Training Cost](/v1/docs/action-training-cost)
- [Confirmation](/v1/docs/action-confirmation)

1. Click **Save**.

If you want an action to be assigned to a learner, you must [add the action to a requirement's block](/v1/docs/editing-a-blocks-actions) and [assign the associated learning plan to the learner](/v1/docs/assigning-learning-plans-to-a-user).
