# Chapters

Online courses contain of one or more chapters that contain tasks. Chapters provide a way to organize your course content.

For example, you may want to create a chapter for each section in your course. In a new employee training course, your chapters may correspond with the different topics in your course such as company history, company organization, policies, and benefits.

In the [Course Builder Dashboard's](/v1/docs/course-builder-dashboard) list of tasks, chapters display a ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7efaadab-fef6-4186-806a-2ca14c9ce9ea/Images/Documentation/Chapter%2020210827.png) icon beside them.

Learners will progress through the chapters in your course in the same order that the chapters are listed.

- Each course must have at least one chapter.
- When you create a new course, a new chapter will be automatically added for you.
