# Converting a Basic Learning Plan

Although a basic learning plan can be converted to an advanced learning plan, it's not possible to convert in the opposite direction. In other words, an advanced learning plan cannot be converted to be a basic learning plan.

To convert a basic learning plan to an advanced learning plan:

1. From the Admin menu, select **Account Admin**.
2. Select **Learning Plans**. The [Learning Plans Dashboard](/v1/docs/learning-plans-dashboard) displays. Be sure to use the [Learning Plans (by Name) list](/v1/docs/viewing-learning-plans#viewing-learning-plans-by-name) option; this is the default list displayed in the Learning Plans Dashboard.
3. Expand the basic learning plan you want to convert.
4. Select the learning plan, certification, or requirement from the list.
5. Click **Edit**.
6. Edit the settings for the [learning plan](/v1/docs/learning-plans), [certification](/v1/docs/certifications), or [requirement](/v1/docs/requirements) as needed.
7. Click **Save**.
