# Courses: SCORM

SCORM, which stands for Shareable Content Object Reference Model, is a standard for creating eLearning that works with most learning management systems (LMSs) and microlearning platforms. It's become the industry standard for interoperability.

SCORM courses are [developed in third-party products](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/publishing-scorm-courses) such as Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, or iSpring. After developing your course, you'll need to [publish the SCORM course to a ZIP file](/v1/docs/publishing-scorm-courses). When publishing your SCORM course, be sure to use a [version that SmarterU supports](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/scorm-package-considerations#supported-versions).

To make your SCORM course available to your learners through SmarterU, you'll need to [add a SCORM course to SmarterU](/v1/docs/adding-a-scorm-course%20) and [upload the ZIP file to that SCORM course.](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/scorm-course-main#scorm-package )
