# Group Permission: Create Course (CC)

You can assign [group permissions](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/user-group-permissions) or [account permissions](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/user-account-permissions) to a user by [editing their user profile](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/editing-a-user-manually).

The functions available to users with the Create Course (CC) group permission are detailed below.

## Course Admin

### Courses Dashboard

Users with the CC group permission can do the following from the [Courses Dashboard](/v1/docs/courses-dashboard):

- [Add online](/v1/docs/adding-an-online-course), [SCORM](/v1/docs/adding-a-scorm-course), or [instructor-led courses](/v1/docs/adding-an-instructor-led-course).

When users with the CC permission add a course, they are automatically added as a [course manager](/v1/docs/course-course-managers). If they remove themselves as a course manager, they will not be able to [add content to an online course](/v1/docs/adding-content-to-an-online-course), or edit the course's settings after saving the new course.

- [Assign the newly added courses to the group](/v1/docs/course-groups#assigning-to-selected-groups). However, they will NOT be able to edit the [course's settings](/v1/docs/course-groups-1) for the group.
- [](/v1/docs/adding-a-session)[Add sessions](/v1/docs/adding-a-session) to instructor-led courses that are assigned to the group.
- Edit the settings for courses they've added. The list of potential [prerequisites](/v1/docs/course-prerequisites) and [course managers](/v1/docs/course-course-managers) will only include the courses and users that the user has permission to view. The list of potential prerequisites includes all actions since actions don't have restricted visibility.
- [Edit any sessions](/v1/docs/editing-a-session) that belong to courses that they added.
- [Preview online courses](/v1/docs/previewing-an-online-course) and [SCORM courses](/v1/docs/previewing-a-scorm-course) they've added.

### Course Builder Dashboard

The CC group permission does NOT grant users access to the [Course Builder Dashboard](/v1/docs/course-builder-dashboard). However, users with the CC group permission are included in the list of potential [graders for an online course's quiz](/v1/docs/quiz-graders). Users with the CC permission will be able to access the Course Builder Dashboard for online courses they've added since they're automatically a [course manager](/v1/docs/course-course-managers) for the course.

### Session Information Workscreen

The CC group permission does NOT grant users access to the Session Information workscreen. However, users with the CC group permission are included in the list of potential [internal instructors](/v1/docs/instructor-led-session-session-details#internal-instructors) for a session. Users with the CC permission will be able to access the Session Information workscreen for instructor-led courses they've added since they're automatically a [course manager](/v1/docs/course-course-managers) for the course.
