# Group: Users

Assigning users to the group enables you to [enroll the user in the group's courses or subscriptions](/v1/docs/enrolling-users). It also enables you to grant the user [group permissions](/v1/docs/group-permissions-1).

A grid in the Users accordion displays the users assigned to the group.

The grid's columns are described below.

| **Column** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Name** | The [name of the user](/v1/docs/user-login-information#given-names-required) assigned to the group. |
| **Home Group** | Indicates whether the group is the user's [home group](/v1/docs/home-groups): - ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7efaadab-fef6-4186-806a-2ca14c9ce9ea/Images/Documentation/group-users-image-vso2f3mg.png) - The group is the user's home group. - ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7efaadab-fef6-4186-806a-2ca14c9ce9ea/Images/Documentation/group-users-image-774fysde.png) - The group is not the user's home group. |
| **Group Permissions** | Each [group permission](/v1/docs/group-permissions-1) is listed below the Group Permissions column heading. The icon in the column indicates whether the user is assigned the permission: - ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7efaadab-fef6-4186-806a-2ca14c9ce9ea/Images/Documentation/group-users-image-5o9cw8i1.png) - The user has been granted the group permission. - ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7efaadab-fef6-4186-806a-2ca14c9ce9ea/Images/Documentation/group-users-image-4v1nk8bs.png) - The user does not have the group permission. |

You may [add users to the group](/v1/docs/group-users#adding-users-to-a-new-group), [change a user's group permissions](/v1/docs/group-users#editing-a-users-group-permissions), [remove a user from the group](/v1/docs/group-users#removing-users-from-a-group), or [export users to a .CSV file](/v1/docs/exporting-group-users) from the [Add](/v1/docs/adding-a-group)/[Edit](/v1/docs/editing-a-group) Group workscreen.

You may also perform these functions by [adding](/v1/docs/adding-a-user-manually) or [editing a user](/v1/docs/editing-a-user-manually) from the [Users Dashboard](/v1/docs/users-dashboard).

## Adding Users to a New Group

Assigning users to the group enables you to [enroll the user in the group's courses or subscriptions](/v1/docs/enrolling-users) and grant the user with [group permissions](/v1/docs/group-permissions-1).

To add users to a [new group](/v1/docs/adding-a-group):

1. From the Add/Edit Group workscreen, expand the Users accordion. By default, the grid displays all active users that you have permission to view.
2. If you want to specify a maximum number of users that can be added to the group:
  1. Check the **Limit Number of Users That Can Be Added to This Group** checkbox.
  2. In the **Users** field, enter the maximum number of users that can be added to the group.
