# Historical Training

Historical training are instructor-led courses that occurred in the past. You may want to enter historical training to track courses that learners completed prior to your use of SmarterU.

- Historical training is only applicable to [instructor-led courses](/v1/docs/courses-instructor-led).
- When [adding historical training to a user](/v1/docs/adding-historical-training), be sure that the course exists in the learner's home group.
- Only users with the [Group Manager group permission](/v1/docs/group-permission-group-manager-gm), [administrators, and owners](/v1/docs/user-profile-information#access-level) can [create new historical training courses](/v1/docs/adding-a-historical-training-course) and [sessions](/v1/docs/adding-a-historical-training-session).
- Users with the [Manage Group Users group permission](/v1/docs/group-permission-manage-group-users-mgu) can [add to learners to existing historical training course sessions](/v1/docs/adding-historical-training), but will not be able to add new historical training courses or sessions.
