# Licensing Agencies

In order to use this feature, be sure to enable [licensing](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/account-settings#enable-licensing) for your account.

SmarterU's [licensing](https://support.smarteru.com//v1/docs/licensing) feature enables you to track licenses and certifications issued by agencies. Agencies are organizations that award a certification or license to learners who demonstrate that they possess the required skills and knowledge. For example, the American Red Cross offers certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED, and Babysitting and Child Care. Your state's Department of Health is another example of an agency that may require individuals to earn CEUs to maintain their license.
