# Organizations

Organizations provide a way to associate [users](https://support.smarteru.com//v1/docs/users) with entities that are different from the account.

For example, if your account offers courses to members of a professional association, you may want to create an organization for that association. SmarterU users who are members of the association can then be associated with the associations's organization.
