# Overriding a Proctor Status

In order to use this feature, be sure to add a [proctoring service](https://support.smarteru.com/docs/account-proctoring-services) to your account.

When a learner meets all of the video proctoring service's rules while taking a quiz, the learner's quiz attempt will receive a *Valid* proctor status; otherwise, the learner's quiz attempt will receive an *Invalid* proctor status.

If you need to change the proctor status for a learner's quiz attempt, you can do so from the Proctoring Services workscreen. The steps to override the proctor status will depend on the proctoring service:

Changing the proctor status does not affect the enrollment's pass/fail status. If you need to change the pass/fail status, [edit the enrollment using the Enrollment Report](/v1/docs/enrollment-report-editing-an-enrollment).

## AutoProctor

AutoProctor considers a trust score of 85% or higher to be valid. Sessions below 85% are marked invalid, and the quiz attempt is considered incomplete.

To override a proctor status with AutoProctor:

1. From the **Admin** menu, select **Proctoring Services**.
2. Select the proctoring service. The menu options available will reflect your [account's proctoring services](/v1/docs/account-proctoring-services).
3. Filter the workscreen by the course name and quiz name.
4. Click **View Report** beside the session.

1. Click **Override**.

## Integrity Advocate

To override a proctor status with Integrity Advocate:

1. From the **Admin** menu, select **Proctoring Services**.
2. Select the proctoring service. The menu options available will reflect your [account's proctoring services](/v1/docs/account-proctoring-services).
3. Locate the course enrollment in the grid at the bottom of the workscreen.
4. Click **Override**.

1. From the **Status Override** list, select the proctor status that you want to assign to the learner's quiz attempt.
2. Enter a description for why you're changing the proctor status in the Override Reason field.
3. Click **Submit**. The following message displays:

> This will override all sessions for this participant for the specified activity. Are you sure?

1. Click **OK**. The grid reflects the proctor status that you assigned to the learner's quiz attempt.

Remember that changing the proctor status does not affect the enrollment's pass/fail status. If you need to change the pass/fail status, [edit the enrollment using the Enrollment Report](/v1/docs/enrollment-report-editing-an-enrollment).
