# Resetting a User's Password

If a user forgets their password, or reaches the maximum number of attempts to log in, there are two options to reset their password:

- [Edit the user's profile](/v1/docs/editing-a-user-manually) and [enter a new password for the user](/v1/docs/user-login-information#password).
- Ask the user to follow the [instructions for recovering their password](/v1/docs/recovering-your-password).

The password is case-sensitive and will need to comply with the [account's password requirements](/v1/docs/account-password-requirements).
