# SSO: SmarterU API

To enable external authorization with the SmarterU API:

1. [Edit your account settings](/v1/docs/editing-your-account-settings).
2. In the External Authorization section, check the [External Authorization](/v1/docs/account-external-authorization-sso#settings) checkbox.
3. Expand the [API Setup](/v1/docs/account-api-setup) section.
4. Select the [Allow API Access for This Account setting](/v1/docs/account-api-setup#allow-api-access-for-this-account).

1. Click **Save**.
