In order to preserve the history of any actions or records, SmarterU does not allow you to delete records, including groups.

Although it's not possible to delete groups, you can inactivate groups.

  • In order to preserve the history of any actions or records, there is no delete function in SmarterU. While it's not possible to delete a group, you can deactivate a group by changing its status to Inactive.
  • Before you can change a group's status to Inactive, the group cannot have any active users assigned to it. You can either set the status of all users in the group to Inactive, or remove the users from the group.

Courses can be assigned to the group from the Course Information workscreen

You can add or remove an inactive group's courses from the Add/Edit Group workscreen, but NOT from the Course Information workscreen.

You can manage the courses assigned to an inactive group from the Add/Edit Group workscreen, but NOT from the Course Information workscreen.

An inactive group's courses can be added or removed from the Add/Edit Group workscreen, but NOT from the Course Information workscreen.

Group can be assigned to subscription variants from the Add/Edit Variant workscreen

Learners can be enrolled in courses under the group

Learners cannot be enrolled in courses under the group. This includes manual enrollments, self-enrollments, automated enrollments as part of the group, its learning plans, or subscriptions, or automated re-enrollments.

If any course enrollments occurred under the group before it was de-activated, the course will no longer be accessible to the group's learners.

Inactive groups are not included in reports by default, but you can include them by changing the report's filters.

Editing a Group's Status

To edit a group's status:

  1. Edit the group's information.
  2. Expand the Group Information accordion.
  3. Set the Status setting to Active or Inactive.
  4. Click Save.
